Ever hear the saying that something "goes in one ear and right out the other?" Well, this story is just like that.
Last year, I received one of the most sincere gifts in my life thus far. A very near and dear friend of mine gave me a hand made set of dog ears. No no no, these are not your average real dog ears. I'm talking about hand sewn or shall I say, hand crocheted doggy ears.
It was a mixture of black and white lines that were very easily placed upon my head, just like the kind you would expect to wear as Mickey Mouse ears from Disneyland. However, this friend of mine named Ana was a very sneaky designer. She was able to capture my head measurements without me knowing it until the day I unwrapped it over the winter break.
How did she acquire my measurement you might ask? Well, its a pretty quick story.
One sunny afternoon, she was crocheting a hat for "supposedly" her father. She asked if she could take my head for measuring since apparently to her, all men had more or less the same head shapes and lengths. So thinking nothing of it, I said sure and let her do as she pleased.
Little did I know that only a month and a half later I would have the chance to rip open a gift that had those ears I had been wanting for the longest time. I had given her the idea of doggy ears a long time ago, but she would always make up excuses that dog ears would be too challenging to make.
At last, she took the challenge and made me the ears that went over one ear and over the other. After winter break, I wore the dog ears and was happy to see that she was wearing a set of cat ears that she had made over the winter break.
We may not have been a couple of cats or dogs, but we were the opposites of attraction that day. Now I have those ears set nicely on top of a shelf to display to the rest of the world.
