A few years ago, I was getting ready to head off to college. It was a terrifying yet exciting opportunity, and many family friends came to wish me good luck. I've heard all about all the horror stories of colleges. I didn't want to fail.
One of our close family friends gave me a simple present as a farewell gift. It was a compass. I thought compasses were for hikers and serious outdoor enthusiasts...which I am not. It seemed useless until I read the card.
It was a symbolic compass because he wrote, "A compass so that you will never lose your way in life." I kept it in my backpack as a constant reminder, and I still keep it with me.
I survived through college, and everything turned out just fine. :)
